Thank you all for your lovely comments and I hope you manage to find time to make one of these. You will be warmly rewarded as the weather becomes increasingly chilly :-)

My 94 yr mother is trying to make this cute shoulder warmer. She doesn't know what you mean by "x2 and x5" in the directions. Can you please help?

The Sunroom said...

Hi Fran,x2 mean to repeat the stitch two times, x5 means to repeat the stitch five times. I hope this clarifies the situation for you? Best Wishes

This is a lovely pattern, and I'm seriously thinking about making it my next project!

There's one thing I don't understand, though--there are only 4 rounds in the instruction, but it looks like maybe 16 or so in the picture. Do you just repeat the 4th round (so there would be no more increases after that point) until it's the length you want?

Thanks!

Hi There,

Yes indeed repeat row 4 until required length is achieved. I think mine was 12 or 13 rows in total. Hope this helps and thank you.

SORRY, I am so confused with the increase rows. Row 2, do I make 2-dc in each 5th stitch all the way around? And the same for row 3.(every 4th). How many rows of increases are there? One more question, is the pattern just rows 2 through 4? I know at the end it is just row 4, then the finishing.I really want to try this for nursing home patients, Thanks, Peggy from South Carolina

Hi Peggy,
Rows 4-16 are all worked identically. I will update the pattern to make this a little clearer. Because you ch 2 and then dc into first st on each row - there is a gentel increase with each round.Hopefully this clarifies it for you.
Best Wishes

Hello! I just love this poncho/capelet. I am hoping to be able to make a "Mother/Daughter" pair. Could you please help me modify the pattern to make the overall length longer? How would I scale it down for a little girl? Do you know how I would add vertical slits for arm holes since I would like it longer? So nice to find an expert! I look forward to your reply!

This one is what I've been looking for. There are so many old-fashioned styles online...crochet pattern central...that it gets tiring to search. Your's is very sweet and perfect!!! Some day I'll get around to learning how to write up crochet patterns as well. Thank you for your help! I'll let you know how it turns out. Regards!

I just finished this project today. It turned out beautiful. I changed it some by adding 2 rows of V stitches in toward the bottom. It looks great! Thank you!

Made this for my mother-in-law and it turned out beautiful. I changed the hook size to one smaller and increased the increase rows by 3. Thank you so much for the pattern.

This is wonderful! So easy to follow! I was actually wondering if you could do the scalloped edge in a different color?
