Lazy Daisy Afghan Blanket Vintage Crochet Pattern

CHADWICK'S RED HEART KNITTING WORSTED, 4 Ply, Art. E: 232: 20 skeins (1 oz. "Tangle-Proof" Pull-Out Skeins) of No. 230 Yellow, 19 skeins of No. 491 Pearl Grey, 7 skeins of No. 848 Skipper Blue and 10 skeins of No. 676 Emerald.

Clark's O.N.T. Plastic Crochet Hook No. 6.

GAUGE: Each motif measures 5 1/2 inches from point to point.

Afghan measures 48 x 60 inches.

MOTIF (Make 149) . . . Starting at center with Yellow, ch 2.

1st rnd: 8 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join and break off.

2nd rnd: Attach Skipper Blue to same place as sl st, ch 3, insert hook in same place and draw up a loop to height of chain, (yarn over, insert hook in same place, draw up a loop) twice; yarn over and draw through all loops on hook, ch 1 to fasten (puff st made); * make 2 puff sts in next sc, 1 puff st in next sc. Repeat from * around (12 puff sts). Join and break off.

3rd rnd: Attach Pearl Grey to any sp between puff sts, 2 sc in same place, 2 sc in next sp, * ch 3, 2 sc in next 2 sps. Repeat from * around. Join.

4th rnd: Ch 3, dc in next 3 sc, * holding back on hook the last loop of next dc, make dc in next sp, drop Grey, draw a loop of Emerald through loops on hook, thus changing color--always change color in this manner. Working over unused color make dc, ch 1 and dc in same sp; drop Emerald, pick up Grey and, continuing to work over unused color, make dc in same sp, dc in next 4 sc. Repeat from * around, ending with Grey dc in same sp. Join and break off Grey.

5th rnd: Attach Yellow to sp between Emerald dc's, ch 4, dc in same sp, * change to Emerald and make dc in next dc, change to Yellow and make dc in next 6 dc, change to Emerald, make dc in next dc, change to Yellow and in next sp make dc, ch 1 and dc. Repeat from * around, ending with Emerald dc. Join and break off both colors.

Make 6 rows of 14 motifs and 5 rows of 13 motifs, sewing adjacent sides neatly together as shown in diagram. Block to measurements.

FRINGE . . . Cut 6 strands of Grey, each 7 inches long. Double these strands to form a loop. Insert hook at inner edge (between scallops) and draw loop through; draw loose ends through loop and pull up tightly. Make 7 fringes between each scallop across short ends. Trim ends evenly.
