GAUGE:

One Hexagon = about 7 1/2 in. (19 cm) across (at widest).

BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

NOTES:

1. Blanket is made from 60 Hexagons, 12 with each Color Sequence.
2. Each Hexagon is made in 5 joined rnds. Each rnd is worked using a different color as in Color Sequences.
3. Hexagons are joined to neighboring Hexagons according to Assembly Diagram, using join-as-you-go techniques in Rnd 5.
4. To reduce the number of ends to weave in, work over the ends of the old color when working the next rnd.
5. Three border rnds are worked around the outer edge of Blanket after all Hexagons are made and joined.

NEXT HEXAGONS (make a total of 60 Hexagons - 12 with each Color Sequence)
Notes:

1. Refer to Assembly Diagram for placement of Hexagon.
Notice the neighboring Hexagons to which the current Hexagon needs to be joined.
2. Hexagons are joined to each neighboring Hexagon across one or more side edges.
Side edges are joined by joining the corner ch-4 sps at the beg and end of the edge and the ch-2 sps across the edge.
3. At ch-4 corners where 3 Hexagons meet, work the ch-4 corner join as follows: ch 2, sc in ch-2 sp of next shell, ch 2, drop loop from hook, insert hook through corresponding corner ch-4 sp of first neighboring Hexagon, place dropped loop back on hook and draw through, ch 1, drop loop from hook, insert hook through corresponding corner ch-4 sp of next neighboring Hexagon, place dropped loop back on hook and draw through, ch 2, sc in same ch-2 sp of current Hexagon.

Make same as Hexagon 1 through Rnd 4.
Rnd 5: From RS, join 5th color with sc in first ch-1 sp following any shell, ch 2, sc in same ch-1 sp, ch 2, sk next 3-dc group, (sc, ch 2, sc) in next ch-1 sp;
Ch-4 Corner Join: Hold current Hexagon and neighboring Hexagon with WS together and sts matching, ch 2, sc in ch-2 sp of next shell, ch 2, drop loop from hook, insert hook through corresponding corner ch-4 sp of neighboring Hexagon, place dropped loop back on hook and draw through, ch 2, sc in same ch-2 sp of current Hexagon.
Ch-2 Side Join: *Ch 2, sc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1, drop loop from hook, insert hook through corresponding corner ch-2 sp of neighboring Hexagon, place dropped loop back on hook and draw through, ch 1, sc in same ch-1 sp of current Hexagon; rep from * once more.
Next Ch-4 Corner Join: Ch 2, work same as first Corner Ch-4 Sp Join. Rep Ch-2 Side Join and Ch-4 Corner Join until the current Hexagon is joined to all neighboring Hexagons.
Complete Rnd: **(Ch 2, sk next 3-dc group, (sc, ch 2, sc) in next ch-1 sp, ch 2) twice, (sc, ch 4, sc) in ch-2 sp of next shell; rep from ** around, ch 2; join with sl st in first sc - 6 corner ch-4 sps and 12 ch-2 sps.
