MATERIALS REQUIRED:
• AMERICAN THREAD "AUNT LYDIA'S" HEAVY RUG YARN
     8 - 70 yd. skeins Black
     7 - 70 yd. skeins White
• Plastic Crochet Hook Size J or ANY SIZE HOOK WHICH WILL RESULT IN STITCH GAUGE BELOW
• 1 yd. 3/8 inch Black elastic
GAUGE: 3 sts = 1 inch
BE SURE YOUR STITCH GAUGE IS CORRECT. Do not hesitate to change needle size to achieve gauge indicated in the instructions.
RUG:

___1st Rnd: With White ch 4, join to form a ring, ch 3, 15 dc in ring, join in top of ch 3.
___2nd Rnd: Working in back loop of sts throughout, ch 1, 5 sc in same space, * skip 1 st, 5 sc in next st, repeat from * all around, skip 1 st (8 points), drop White, attach Black (when changing colors always complete last half of st with next color), join, cut White.
___3rd Rnd: Skip 1 sc, * sc in next sc, 3 sc in next sc, sc in next sc, skip 2 sc, repeat from * all around ending last repeat with skip 1 sc.
___4th Rnd: Skip 1 sc, * 1 sc in next sc, 5 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next sc, skip 2 sts, repeat from * all around ending last repeat with skip 1 sc, cut Black.
___5th Rnd: With White skip 1 sc, * 1 sc in each of the next 2 sc, 5 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each of the next 2 sc, skip 2 sc, repeat from * all around ending last repeat with skip 1 sc.
___6th Rnd: Same as 5th round having 1 more st at sides of points.
___7th Rnd: With Black skip 1 sc, * 1 sc in each of the next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc, 3 sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each of the next 3 sc, skip 2 sc, repeat from * all around ending last repeat with skip 1 sc.
___8th Rnd: Skip 1 sc * 1 sc in each of the next 5 sc, 3 sc in center sc, 1 sc in each of the next 5 sc, skip 2 sc, repeat from * all around ending with skip 1 sc.
___9th Rnd: With White same as 7th round working inc to correspond and having 1 more sc on each side of points. Continue in this manner alternating colors every 2 rounds until there are 12 rounds.
___Next 12 Rnds: Work same as last round but work next 4 rounds in White, next 4 rounds in Black, next 4 rounds in White.
___25th and 26th Rnds: With Black skip 1 sc, * 1 sc in each of the next 21 sts, 3 sc in next st, 1 sc in each of the next 21 sc, skip 2 sc, repeat from * all around having the same number of sts in each round.
___27th and 28th Rnds: With White repeat last 2 rounds.
___29th to 32nd Rnds: With Black work in same manner.
___33rd Rnd: Work a sl st in each st all around, join, cut yarn.
SEAT COVER:
___Work 1st 12 rounds same as rug, cut White. Work remainder with Black.
___Next Rnd: Work 1 trc in each sc working over the 2 skipped sts between points as follows: * yo hook twice, insert in next st, pull yarn through and work off 2 loops twice, repeat from * once, yo and pull through all loops at one time; (1 st dec).
___Next Rnd: Working in sc work 2 sts tog over dec of last round.
___Next 3 Rnds: Work 1 sc in each sc, join, cut yarn.
___BEADING: With wrong side of cover facing attach Black in back loop of any sc, * ch 3, skip 3 sc, sl st in next sc of 2nd sc round, ch 3, skip next 3 sc, sl st in next sc of last round, repeat from * all around, join, cut yarn. Lace elastic through beading. Sew elastic ends securely.
TISSUE TOPPER:
___Work 1st 4 rounds same as rug.
___5th Rnd: With White skip 1 sc, * 1 sc I n each of the next 2 sc, 3 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each of the next 2 sc, skip 2 sc, repeat from * all around ending last repeat with skip 1 sc. Repeat last round alternating colors every 2 rounds until there are 12 rounds from beg.
___13th Rnd: With White, skip 1 sc, * 1 sc in each of the next 2 sc, 5 sc in next sc, 1 sc I n each of the next 2 sc, skip 2 sc, repeat from * all around ending last repeat with skip 1 sc.
___14th Rnd: Work 1 sc in each of the 3 sc at sides of point skipping the 2 sc over the previous skipped st, and working 3 sc in center sts at points.
___15th and 16th Rnds: Repeat last 2 rounds having 1 more st at sides of points, join.
___17th Rnd: Work a sl st in each st all around, join, cut yarn.
___POMPON: Wind Black 50 times over 2 inch cardboard; slip off cardboard; tie in center, cut both ends. Trim into shape and attach to top of tissue cover.
FINISHING: Steam each item slightly.
