One Skein Tea & Sympathy Shawl Crochet Pattern

Skill Level: Intermediate
 
Materials: 1 skein Trekking Hand Art sock yarn, 6mm crochet
hook, tapestry/darning needle.
 
Notes:
 
Measurements: 46” wide x 14” long approx.
 
Tension: 1” = 4 dc over 2 rows
 
Pattern:
 
Ch 80 = 2 to count as 1st dc
 
Row 1: dc into 3rd ch from hook, dc into each ch to end (80sts)
 
Row 2: ch2 to count as 1st dc, dc into 1st st, *dc into next four sts,
work 2 dc into 5th st*, ** rep to end (96sts)
 
Row 3: ch 2 to count as first dc, dc into all sts to end work to dc
into final st (98dc)
 
Row 4: ch 2 to count as first dc, dc into all sts to end work to dc
into final st (100dc)
 
Row 5: ch 2 to count as 1st c, *ch 1, dc in next st*, ** rep to end
(200sts)
 
Rows 6: *ch 5, sk 4 sts,dc into 5th st*,** rep to end finish with a
dc in final st.
 
Rows 7- 15: *ch 5, dc into 3rd ch in arc*, rep to end finish with a
dc in final 3 ch in final arc.
 
Row 16: ch 2 to count as first dc, dc into each ch to end
 
Row 17: ch 2 to count as first dc, *sc in next st, sk 2 sts, work 5dc

Make Large and Small Motifs as given for Blanket, following Guides below for Colors and quantities of Large and Small Motifs:

Finishing
Sew Motifs tog following Diagram IV shown for each Front and Back piece (see page 36).
Edging: 1st rnd: With WS facing each other, place Front and Back pieces tog. With RS of Front facing, join A through both thicknesses at bottom right corner and work 1 row of sc through both thicknesses to join pieces, working 3 sc in corners. Do not work across bottom edge. Insert pillow form. Complete working sc across bottom edge. Join B with sl st to first sc.
2nd rnd: With B, ch 1. Work 1 sc in each sc around, working 3 sc in each corner sc. Join C with sl st in first sc.
3rd rnd: With C as 2nd rnd, joining D at end of rnd.
4th rnd: With D as 2nd rnd, joining G at end of rnd.
5th rnd: With G, ch 1. Working from left to right, instead of from right to left as usual, work 1 reverse sc in each sc around. Join with sl st to first sc.
Fasten off.

Catch A Wave Throw–Crochet Pattern

Throw measures 48 inches wide by 57 inches long

Red Heart Designer Sport: 2 skeins each 3261 Terra Cotta (A), 3620 Celadon (B), 3650 Pistachio (C), 3101 Ivory (D), 3251 Melon (E), 3801 Aqua Ice (F)

Crochet hook: Size H/8 (5mm)
Yarn needle

Gauge: 15 sts = 4-1/4 inches; 12 rows in pattern = 4 inches. Check your gauge. Use any size needle to obtain gauge given.

How to Make a Gauge Swatch
Ch 16.
Rows 1-5 Work same as rows 1-5 on Throw , except work wave patterns only once in each odd-numbered row and do not change color at end of each even-numbered row -- 15 sts.
Rows 6-12 Repeat rows 2-5 once, then repeat rows 2-4 once more. Swatch should measure approx 4-1/4 inches wide by 4 inches high. Adjust hook size if necessary to obtain correct gauge.

Stitch Patterns
Wave #1

(worked over 14 sts) Sc in next st, hdc in next 2 sts, dc in next 2 sts, tr in next 3 sts, dc in next 2 sts, hdc in next 2 sts, sc in next 2 sts.

Wave #2
(worked over 14 sts) Tr in next st, dc in next 2 sts, hdc in next 2 sts, sc in next 3 sts, hdc in next 2 sts, dc in next 2 sts, tr in next 2 sts.

Throw
With A, ch 170.
Row 1 (right side) Sc in 2nd ch from hook; work Wave #1 pattern 12 times -- 169 sts.
Row 2 Ch 1, turn; sc in first st andin each st across, changing to B inlast sc.

Fasten off A.
Row 3 With B, ch 4 (counts as tr), turn; work Wave #2 pattern 12 times.
Row 4 Ch 1, turn; sc in first st and in each st across, working last sc in 4th ch of turning ch-4 and changing to C in last sc. Fasten off B.
Row 5 With C, ch 1, turn; sc in first st; work Wave #1 pattern 12 times.
Rows 6-170 Repeat rows 2-5, 41 more times, then work row 2 once more, working 2 rows in each color in order from A-F and ending with 2 rows of A. At end of last row, fasten off.

Finishing
Weave in all ends.
